Showcase at Studio Bee

The Chamber Singers of the Colorado Springs Chorale perform last year at the Showcase at Studio Bee.

PPLD prides itself on building strong partnerships in the community it serves. A great example of this is the Showcase at Studio Bee, the Library’s collaboration with KRCC, COPPeR, The Gazette, The Colorado Springs Independent, Downtown Partnerships, the Pikes Peak Center, and KCME. This concert series features some of the best in local musical talent performing original music, which is captured for posterity by PPLD TV. All artists included in the Showcase are homegrown talent from El Paso, Teller, and Pueblo counties and have produced an album and write their own music.

All Showcase at Studio Bee performances are free and open to the public. They take place inside Studio Bee, located on the north end of the Pikes Peak Center at 190 S. Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs. This year’s series kicks off on Thursday, January 26, with the following acts:

  • Tron The Band, 6:45 - 7:15 p.m.
  • Madison Hunziker, 7:30 - 8 p.m.
  • The Craig Walter Band, 8:15 - 8:45 p.m.

For a complete schedule of Studio Bee shows, click here.

PPLD TV (Comcast 17, Falcon Broadband 75) broadcasts recorded Showcase at Studio Bee concerts Sundays at 6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. as part of our arts programming, which includes Studio Bee, Colorado Cinema Spotlight, PPLD Concert Highlights, and full-length music and theatre programs. Arts programming runs from 5:30 - 9 p.m. every Sunday and 7:30 - 11:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday. You can also watch these programs anytime on PPLD.TV under the Arts and Music category.

Water 2012: A Community-Wide Effort to
Promote a Celebration of Water
Pikes Peak Library District and Colorado Springs Utilities, along with 12 other organizations in the Pikes Peak region, are partnering in 2012 to raise awareness about water as a valuable and limited resource. Programming throughout the year will seek to:
  • Increase support for management and protection of Colorado’s water and waterways
  • Showcase exemplary models of cooperation and collaboration among Colorado water users
  • Connect Coloradans to existing and new opportunities to learn about water
  • Motivate Coloradans to become proactive participants in Colorado water’s future

Join us at the program’s kick-off event on Thu., Jan. 26 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Imagination Celebration Space in the Citadel, featuring fine food, and ice-breaking activities that will both educate and entertain about Water 2012.
